Performance CV
Alice is a busy freelance performer with many leading period ensembles, such as Gabrieli Consort & Players, La Nuova Musica, Music for Awhile, Instruments of Time and Truth, Canzona, The Oxford Bach Soloists, BREMF Early Opera, Armonico Consort and Eboracum Baroque. Alice is currently loving her time on the OAE Scheme (2019-21) and returning regularly to play with Belsize Baroque (Leadership Bursary 2018-19).
Alice relishes her vibrant chamber music life. In 2019 Alice, with fellow historical musicians – Miriam Nohl (Cello/Gamba) and Amelia Shakespeare (Cornett/Flute), formed The Canario Ensemble, a group specialising in creating accessible early music programmes. They successfully auditioned for Live Music Now and enjoyed performing in The Wigmore Hall for Music for the Moment (a concert series for those living with dementias). They are looking forward to returning to The Wigmore Hall in the Autumn to perform at the Bechstein Sessions. With FIGO (2017-2019), Alice took part in the BREMF Live Scheme 2018, various recitals in London (including in Wigmore Hall), Newbury and Hexham and their residencies at The Brecon Baroque Festival (2019) and The Clifton International Festival of Music (2018/19).
In 2018, Alice graduated from The Royal Academy of Music with an MA with Distinction in Historical Performance where she studied as an Enlightenment Scholar under the tutelage of Rachel Podger, Nicolette Moonen and Jane Rogers. During her studies she performed at The Wigmore Hall, at St. John’s Smith Square and in the Kohn Bach Cantata Series (directors such as Jane Glover and Philippe Herreweghe). In July 2017 Alice received her Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction from The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she was an EMI Sound Foundation Scholar. Alice studied modern violin with Lesley Hatfield (Leader of BBC NOW) and Itzhak Rashkovsky and baroque violin with Rachel Podger. RWCMD’s highlights include BBC NOW and WNO placements, leading Verdi’s Falstaff under Carlo Rizzi’s baton, performing solo in baroque concerti such as Bach’s Double Violin Concerto, Valentini’s Concerto For Four Violins with Rachel Podger and her performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons (Principal 2nd). Alice graduated from The University of Bristol in 2015 with a 2:1 BA Honours in Music, and having led the symphony, chamber and festival orchestras, was awarded the Ladyman Bequest Prize.
